Chinese Moviegoers Sick After JASON BOURNE Debuts Only in 3D

Deadline reports many Chinese moviegoers are feeling sick, financially and physically, after seeing Jason Bourne. The film is experiencing a backlash in China after it was released only in 3D on Wednesday with no 2D counterpart. Having personally watched the film in 2D and felt dizzy (and confused as to why the action scenes were blurry most of the time), I can't imagine trying to see it in 3D. Yet that's the only option Chinese fans have at the moment, and Universal is reportedly scrambling to make sure a 2D version is "on the way."

Many Chinese moviegoers believe it's a cheap ploy to boost profits, as 3D films typically run at a higher cost than the traditional film worldwide. I can say I'd feel the same way if I was forced to see a new release in 3D! Especially a film like the new Jason Bourne, which doesn't even lend itself to the format. Hopefully this issue gets resolved quickly.
