Peter Jackson gives updates on TINTIN and THE HOBBIT

Peter Jackson gives a few new updates on a couple little projects he's been working on... Tintin and of course The Hobbit. I'm excited to see how both of these films turn out, but I gotta say, I'm much more excited for The Hobbit. Tintin is the film that's pretty much finished though. Jackson tells BBC,

Tintin is great. It's made. The movie is cut together and now [we] are turning it into a fully-rendered film. So the movie, to some degree, exists in a very rough state.

It should be interesting to see this comic come to life. With the way Speilberg and Jackson have excitedly talked about it, it's sure to be a good solid movie. I'm not sure popular the movie will be in the U.S., due to the fact that almost everyone I have talked to has never heard of Tintin. But you know what every has heard of? The Hobbit!

The first draft of the first script is done, it's out to actors, Guillermo Del Toro is prepping to direct it, the costumes and designs are being worked on, locations are being scouted, Ian Mckellen is cast as Gandalf, and we are waiting to see who is going to play Bilbo Baggins.  In regards to The Hobbit Jackson says:

We're writing Ian McKellen's dialogue just the same as we did in Lord Of The Rings. But Guillermo, being the director, will obviously take the script and interpret that and shoot his film. So that'll be interesting to see.

That's actually the reason I wanted him to do it. I felt like I'd be trying to compete with myself and deliberately do things differently, which is not the way I want to work. I want it to be natural.

I don't think the fanboy and fangirl community have any problems with Jackson handing over the reigns to Del Toro. Oh! And in case you were wondering, The Hobbit will not be filmed in 3D, thank goodness!

Guillermo wants to shoot in 35mm, old-fashioned film, which suits me, because he wants to keep it in the same space as the original trilogy.

I'm glad they recognize that, but Peter Jackson is still a big supporter of the 3D film movement adding that it...

...only adds to the experience of watching a movie. The only thing I get annoyed about is the image being a little dull. It does feel like you're looking at the movie with sunglasses on. But literally, that could just be about getting brighter bulbs in the projectors.

He offers no word on who will play Bilbo in the film, but I definitely wouldn't count out actor Jamie Bell who plays the lead character in these new TinTin films.
