Who Will Make the Better Marilyn Monroe? Michelle Williams or Naomi Watts?

There are two movies about Marilyn Monroe that are currently being developed. We have My Week With Marilyn which went into development last year. That film will star Michelle Williams as the American icon. This movie is based on a diary by Colin Clark. He worked for Laurence Olivier when the actor sheperded Monroe around London while she shot The Prince and the Showgirl.

Then it was recently announced that another Marilyn Monroe film was in the works simply called Blonde, which adapts the fake memoir by Joyce Carol Oates. Naomi Watts has been cast to star in this film. Blonde will be directed by Andrew Dominik who directed the fantastic film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Dominik is a great director that gives this Blonde movie some very strong appeal. 

According to Screen Daily the film is budgeted at $20m and will shoot in January 2011. Dominik says,

For women, she embodies all the injustices visited upon the feminine, a sister, a Cinderella, consigned to live among the ashes…I want to tell the story of Norma Jean as a central figure in a fairytale; an orphan child lost in the woods of Hollywood, being consumed by that great icon of the twentieth century. The book that the film will be based off of tells Monroe’s story from her own point of view which is why it is considered a fake memoir, but at the same time the director wants the film to be an authentic take on the actress. 

The question I bring to you is who will make the better Marilyn Monroe? Naomi Watts is way to skinny and lacks any kind of curves. Michelle Williams on the other hand has got the curves and she's got the looks. I think Williams will be better in the part, but Blonde has the better director. What do you think?
