Michael Fassbender to Play Magneto in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS?
Director Matthew Vaughn is slowly but surly building his cast up for his next film X-Men: First Class. It's already been officially announced that James McAvoy would take on the role of a young Charles Xavier. There's also word that he's looking to bring on board Kick-Ass' Aaron Johnson to play a role in the film, which is speculated as being Cyclops.
Now reports are coming in that Vaughn may have found his Magneto! The director would like Michael Fassbender, who starred in Inglorious Basterds and 300, to take on the role of a younger Magneto, which is a fantastic idea! Fassbender is a great actor, and it would be great to see him in a role like this.
There's a little dilemma though... there are also reports that Fassbender is up for the villainous role in Marc Web's Spider-Man reboot. These movies will be shooting at the around the same time, so he can only pick one. Personally, I'd like to see Fassbender take on the Magneto role. It's a great character, and chances are he will get to star in sequels. We have no idea what villain he would play in Spider-Man, and there is more of a chance his character will get killed off in the movie.
The film is currently prepping up for production and they are scouting shooting locations. MTV pointed out the following from a West Michigan Film Office alert.
A location scout is seeking out areas with a 1960’s, South-American or Central American island feel for the next X-Men movie, ‘X-Men: First Class.’ In particular, he needs to find cafe and bar locations, evoking the Argentinian feel of Bariloche, and an Art Deco Cafe or restaurant overlooking a body of water. Additionally, the movie calls for a Miami styled harbor for yachts. If you know of any locations that seem to match a description, please contact our office.
So it looks like at least part of the film will be shot in South America if that interests any of you.
