Casting is Underway for the Love Interest in SPIDER-MAN 3D Reboot, and it's Not Mary Jane

Movie Casting by Joey Paur

Today director Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield, who was recently cast as the new Peter Parker, started meeting with young actresses to take on the lead female love interest for Peter Parker in the Spider-Man 3D reboot. It was also revealed that the love interest will not be Mary Jane. It's not confirmed who the character is, but could easily end up being Gwen Stacy, Parker’s other love interest in the comics who played by Bryce Dallas Howard in 2007's Spider-Man 3 or perhaps they will bring in a new character.

THR gives a list of actresses who are up for the lead female role and will be meeting with Webb and Garfield this weekend. Here they are:

Ophelia Lovibond a British up-and-comer who appeared in Nowhere Boy and 4.3.2.1 and recently wrapped William Monahan’s London Boulevard.

Imogen Poots the CAA-repped actress who is currently shooting the Fright Night remake.

Lilly Collins repped by CAA and ROAR, who appeared in The Blind Side last year and will be seen in Priest.

Teresa Palmer who is currently shooting I Am Number Four and was the romantic lead in this summer’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The actress, repped by WME and Management 360, read with Garfield last weekend.

Emma Roberts (bottom right) has twice flown from the set of Scream 4 for readings. (Sweeney Management-repped Roberts co-starred with Lovibond in 4.3.2.1

Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the love interest in Scott Pilgrim vs the World, was in the arachnid web but sources say she has now fallen out.

For all we know, none of these actresses will get the role, but it's who Webb is going to be auditioning over the weekend.

Who on the list would like like to see take on the female role in the film?
