'Girl With a Dragon Tattoo Actress' Noomi Rapace Cast in SHERLOCK HOLMES 2

Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, who played Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish Millennium Trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire, and The Girl who Kicked the Hornets' Nest), has been cast as the lead female role in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes 2.

This will be Rapace's first English language film. There isn't really any information on the character she will play but sources close to the production say that she may by a French Gypsy, which is a character that doesn't really fit with any of the iconic Arthur Conan Doyle characters. Not sure yet if this will be a romantic role.

Sherlock Holmes will face off against Moriarty in the sequel as the end of the first film suggests. THR also reports that be Holmes' brother, Mycroft will make an appearance.

Salander will join Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law who will return to the franchise and reprise their roles as Holmes and Watson.

Noomi Rapace is a great choice to bring into the franchise, I imagine we're going to start seeing her in more and more films. Her career is going to take off. It was also recently reported that she is up for the role of Gretel in a new action film called Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters
