Loads of new PROMETHEUS rumors

Some new rumors have been circulating about Ridley Scott's Prometheus. Bleeding Cool spoke with an inside source who touched on a number of topics about the much anticipated film.

The big question on everyone's mind is how does Prometheus fit into universe of the prior Alien films? The answer is pretty simple, the film features the Alien aliens in it. The only difference is the way they look in this new film.

If you remember that the alien has had a couple of different forms in past films. It took on canine qualities after gestating in a dog and the alien in the first film looked a bit like a humanoid because it had grown in a human. The creature mutates from generation to generation. At the beginning of Prometheus, the xenomorph is not easily recognisable. It will still have the alien DNA that Scott and Fassbender referred to, but it’s missing both human and dog DNA. To get an idea of how it will look, simply picture a creature that has DNA that is mixed with another alien species.

Now that we have the alien creature sorted out lets move on to where the film will take place. The source states that it is a planet that has been terraformed to create the perfect environment in which a particular bioweapon would prosper. It is not known if the planet has been terraformed deliberately to farm the weapon.

One of the big bits of rumor brought up is the name of the film. The final name may not actually be Prometheus. The response when asked was, “Maybe not. Though they are calling it that for a reason.”

No confirmation was made on the rumoured use of an 8-foot animatronic Space Jockey. The insider stated,  “there’s nothing we’re calling a space jockey here.” It may end up being the same character, or at least species, but with a new name. Based on past reports the name would seem to be “The Engineer”, but nothing is confirmed.

The only thing that is for certain is that Prometheus does take place in the same universe as Alien, and in this universe there’s a big terraforming operation going on, somehow related to the classic Giger xenomorph.
