According to Matt Reeves we will See CLOVERFIELD 2

I was never really that big of a fan of Matt Reeves and J.J. Abrams' Cloverfield. I know many of you did like it, but it just didn't click with me, it was more annoying than fun. At best, it was a decent student film. After that film, Reeves went on to remake Let the Right One In, which turned out to be better than I expected. There's always been talk of a sequel to Cloverfield, but no word on if it would happen anytime soon. Then in a recent interview with Total Film Reeves had this to say,

Well, you are going to see it – we just don’t know when [laughs]. At the moment we are talking about the story quite a lot. Drew Goddard, who wrote the original, is going to pen the sequel and JJ Abrams is very much involved. However, the three of us have been so busy that getting the right idea together has been taking a long time.

Reeves then goes on to talk about the sequel, and if it would be filmed in the same real time format.

You see, that’s a difficult part: we want it to be shot like the first but how can you continue that idea successfully for a second time? We have a lot of affection for the original and the sequel can’t just be the same thing. But that is tricky when you need to have a monster destroying stuff once again.

There's no real plan for the film that's been revealed yet, but it will eventually happen. Abrams previously said that there's a few solid ideas, but they just need to start working on them and building out the story. I honestly don't really care to see a sequel to this movie. I'd much rather see the money go to a new original sci-fi idea.

What are your thoughts on Cloverfield 2? Is this something you would be excited to see?
