Alexandra Maria Lara takes lead in Ron Howard's RUSH
Alexandra Maria Lara (Downfall, The Reader) is set to take the lead for Ron Howard in Rush. Variety reports that she joins Chris Hemsworth (Thor,The Avengers) and Daniel Brühl (Inglorious Basterds) in the racing drama.
The script was penned by Peter Morgan and "follows Lauda (Brühl) and Hunt's (Hemsworth)1970s rivalry on the Formula One circuit. Lauda nearly died in a fiery crash in 1976 but returned to the track just six weeks later to race Hunt."
Rush is being financed by Cross Creek Pictures, produced by Imagine's Brian Grazer and Howard alongside Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner and Cross Creek's Brian Oliver. The cast is shaping up nicely to tell this cool story. I am interested to see Howard's direction on this film. He was able to create some great tension with Apollo 13, which was also based on a true story. What are your thoughts?
