2023 Holiday Gift Guide for the Geek in Your Life

‘Tis the season to buy cool stuff for your loved ones. With companies rolling out Black Friday Deals and the like, I’ve compiled a list of geeky goodness for you to consider for the geeks in your life. It is important to note that most, if not all, of the links below are affiliate links allowing you to support us here at GeekTyrant while you do your shopping.

Toys & Collectibles

For anime fans and more, Premium Bandai offers tons of incredible collectibles. Many of them are pre-order items and range from things like a set of Digimon TCG goodies or the beautiful MG 1/100 Tallgees Fluegel EW or even an adorable little figure of Anya from Spy X Family. They do also have items in stock like an Original Rainbow Tamagotchi, DX Kabuto Zecter belt, and posket figures including Sailor Moon.

If you prefer shows on Netflix like Stranger things, there’s a ton of goodies for you to grab at the Netflix Store. There are tons of cool things like Stranger Things Hot Sauce Trio, Castlevania Nocturne shirts, a plush of Geralt from The Witcher, and much more.

Of course, GameStop has also become a hub for collectibles. From beloved Funko like Dr. Ian Malcolm to a Death Watch helmet from The Mandalorian or even a Yellow Ranger Power Morpher. They even have clothes like cute Animal Crossing socks or a Jigglypuff hat. There’s a lot of different types of merchandise for you to grab for your loved ones at GameStop.

There’s also one of the behemoths of toys: LEGO. There’s so freaking much available from LEGO, it’s hard to point to anything specific. However, there’s the Coruscant Guard Gunship for Star Wars fans, The Office for fans of the beloved sitcom, some adorable Wintertime Polar Bears, and so freaking much more!

Gaming Gear

If you or a loved one are a gamer, there are a number of routes you can go. For Xbox and PC gamers, Microsoft has some things to enjoy. First, you can always buy an Xbox Series X or one of the new Carbon Black 1TB Series S (there’s also the White 512GB Series S if you need to save the money). They also offer console wraps to make your Series X flashier, extra controllers (I personally really like the Remix Special Edition which feels nicer in the hands in my opinion and comes with a rechargeable battery), and Xbox Game Pass giving you access to tons of games for a monthly subscription.

In addition, you can head over to PowerA for additional gaming accessories. I personally love the Controller Charging Base for Nintendo Switch (you can use the Pro Controller charging part for any USB-C controller like an Xbox controller with a rechargeable battery). They also offer RGB LED Light Strips, cool Nintendo Switch controllers like this wired Gamecube style one, and a wired Sonic one for the Xbox Series X|S. I’ve enjoyed the PowerA controllers I’ve used in the past.

For even more gaming gear, you can check out GameStop once again. They offer all the current gen consoles including the PS5 and Nintendo Switch. They also have controllers, travel cases for the Switch like this HORI one with Peach, gaming headsets like the EPOS H6PRO in Racing Green, or expandable storage like the Seagate 4TB External Game Drive for PS4.

Games

Naturally, if your loved one is a gamer, they’d probably like to get some games! There are a plethora of places for you to purchase said games. If they are like me and enjoy physical copies, GameStop is a great way to go. You can even find used copies sometimes to save some money. I know that I’ve greatly enjoyed Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the Nintendo Switch and many others will too. PS5 gamers are talking about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and I’m jealous! Meanwhile, many Xbox gamers are loving Starfield.

If digital games are the way to go for your loved one there are a few routes to go. There’s the official stores for each platform including Xbox through Microsoft, but you can also purchase many games for PC and other platforms through the Humble Store. In addition, Ubisoft offers their games directly through their store including the recently released Assassin’s Creed Mirage or even classic favorites like Heroes of Might and Magic II! In fact, Ubisoft is running a Black Friday sale from 11/16-11/29 where you can save up to 85% on select titles.

TTRPG Goodies

Finally, I’d feel remiss if we didn’t touch on tabletop RPG goodies. For all your Dungeons & Dragons needs, I’d check out DMs Guild. There’s tons of community created content that’s incredible such as Peculiar Potions, but there’s also a plethora of official Wizards of the Coast content including the Player’s Handbook for the very first edition of D&D! If you’re looking for something else, DriveThruRPG has other systems like Fantasy AGE, Power Rangers RPG, and tons of community created content for just about every tabletop RPG.
