Ben Affleck Discusses Joss Whedon Directing JUSTICE LEAGUE and Says "It's an Interesting Product of Two Directors"

It was recently confirmed by actor Joe Morton, who plays Dr. Silas Stone in Justice League that the reshoots on the film were done to give it a lighter tone. Now a new interview with Ben Affleck has surfaced from Entertainment Weekly. In that interview, Affleck opens up about Zack Snyder stepping down as the director and Joss Whedon stepping in. He says that the film is "an interesting product of two directors." Here's the full quote:

“It’s a little bit unorthodox. Zack had a family tragedy, and stepped off, which was horrible. For the movie, the best person we could’ve possibly found was Joss. We got really lucky that he stepped in. It’s an interesting product of two directors, both with kind of unique visions, both with really strong takes. I’ve never had that experience before making a movie. I have to say, I really love working with Zack, and I really love the stuff we’ve done with Joss.”

This is certainly a unique situation and it sounds to me like Whedon is definitely a co-director on the film. Sounds like Affleck has spent a lot of time working with him, and since he calls the film a "product of two directors", it seems like Whedon has done a hefty amount of reshoots. Maybe the two will get a co-directing credit. Affleck went on to talk about his experience with reshoots saying:

“I’ve never worked on a movie that didn’t do reshoots. ’Argo,’ we did reshoots for a week and a half! Four days on ‘Gone Baby Gone!’ This is a really nice time to work in DC. They’re hitting their stride. They’re getting it right. It’s starting to feel like it’s really working.”

He doesn't come out and say how many days of reshoots went on with Justice League, but judging by his previous comment it's a lot.

I honestly think Justice league is going to turn out to be a solid movie. With Zack Snyder's cool visual style and Joss Whedon's fantastic character development, fans might just end up with something that they'll love. At least that's my hope!
