Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson Are Reteaming With IN BRUGES Director for THE BANSHEES OF INISHEER
If you’re a fan of the great 2008 dark comedy In Bruges, you’ll be excited to learn that stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are teaming up with the film’s director, Martin McDonagh, for another film project. That film project is titled The Banshees of Inisheer.
The story is set on a remote Irish isle, and Farrell and Gleeson will play two lifelong friends “who find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship with alarming consequences for both of them.”
While that’s not much to go off of, I imagine that this movie will be another dark comedy. If you haven’t seen In Bruges yet, you should watch it now.
In In Bruges, Farrell plays a hitman in the story who botches a job and is brought to the picturesque city in Belgium to enjoy himself before he is killed by a colleague (Gleeson). As it turns out, the hitman is suicidal because of the botched hit in which a child was killed, and when his buddy halts his suicide attempt and refuses to kill him off, their boss sends assassins to kill them both.
McDonagh also previously directed Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which was such a great movie! McDonagh is a solid filmmaker who knows how to tell a great story and develop the characters within them. I have no doubt that The Banshees of Inisheer is going to be another great film.
