Daniel Day-Lewis' Final Film is Officially Titled PHANTOM THREAD

Earlier this year Daniel Day-Lewis announced that he is retiring from acting. He made one final film with director Paul Thomas Anderson, who previously directed Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood. There hasn't been a lot of information on this new film collaboration but today we have learned that the title of the film is Phantom Thread and we also have a brief plot synopsis:

Continuing their creative collaboration following 2007’s There Will Be Blood, three-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis stars in Phantom Thread from Paul Thomas Anderson. The writer/director will once again explore a distinctive milieu of the 20th century. The new movie is a drama set in the couture world of 1950s London. The story illuminates the life behind the curtain of an uncompromising dressmaker commissioned by royalty and high society.

I'm such a huge fan of both of these talents, and even though a film about a dressmaker in the 1950s isn't a story that sounds appealing to me, I know that Day-Lewis and Anderson are going to deliver another amazing film. They take this uninteresting premise and turn it into something incredible because these guys make quality films. 

There are rumors that the character Day-Lewis is playing will be based on real-life fashion designer Charles James, a British-born fashion designer known as “America’s First Couturier.” 

Joining Day-Lewis in the film is Lesley Manville, who was a BAFTA Award nominee for Best Actress for Another Year, and Vicky Krieps, whose films include A Most Wanted Man and Hanna.

With the film set to hit theaters on December 25, 2017, I imagine that we'll be seeing a trailer soon.
