David Chase and HBO Max Are Discussing a Possible SOPRANOS Prequel Series or Film
It looks like there’s a good chance that we are going to get a new prequel series of film for The Sopranos. Creator David Chase is in talks with HBO Max to make it happen and the story will take place after the events of of the recently released film, The Many Saints of Newark.
WarnerMedia was “thrilled” with the results of The Many Saints of Newark, and Ann Sarnoff, CEO, Studios and Networks, WarnerMedia said, “We’re talking to David about a new series, Sopranos related, on HBO Max.”
Chase went on to say, “There’s only one way that I would do it, and that was if Terry [Winter] and I could write the script together. That I would do.” The potential story would take place after the film, “which is set in the late 1960s and 1970s and before the original series, which starts around 1998.”
No decision that been made on if this next project will be a series of feature film, but I like the idea of a series more than a film. While I liked The Many Saints of Newark, there was a lot more story that I would have liked to see with the characters and the rise of Tony Soprano. That could definitely be explored in great detail in a series.
Would you be happy to see a new Sopranos prequel series that is set after the events of The Many Saints of Newark?
