Disneyland is Canceling its Current Annual Passholder Program

I’ve got some disheartening news for all of you Disneyland fans out there who have enjoyed the annual passes that they offer… they’ve canceled them. That’s right, Disneyland has canceled its Annual Passholder Program.

Disney released the following statement:

“We want to thank our Annual Passholders for their understanding during this closure period. Due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic and limitations around the reopening of our California theme parks, we will be issuing appropriate refunds for eligible Disneyland Resort annual passports and sunsetting the current program. We are currently developing new membership offerings that will utilize consumer insights to deliver choice, flexibility and value for our biggest fans.”

It makes sense that they would close out their current passholder program under the circumstances. I’m actually surprised that they did do it sooner. I’m sure that there will eventually be new passholder programs put into place, we’ll just have to wait and see what those are like.

In the meantime, rates for pro-rated refunds can be found here. Disneyland will be emailing annual passholders which will outline plans for designing a new program to replace the passports in place. Meanwhile, Disney is extending discount benefits at Downtown Disney shopping district to guests who had active annual passports as of March 14, 2020, when the parks closed down. These passholders will receive a 30% discount on merchandise at select stores, from Jan. 18 to Feb. 25.

Both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have been shut down for 10 months, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be opening up anytime soon.
