Emily Browning Gets Stuck in a Time-Loop Rom-Com in Trailer for ONE MORE SHOT
The streaming service Stan has shared the trailer for the quirky romantic comedy One More Shot, a time-bending story set at the dawn of the new millennium.
Starring Emily Browning, the film throws audiences into a chaotic New Year’s Eve party in 1999 where tequila turns into a time machine. Browning plays Minnie, who arrives at a beach house gathering hoping to rekindle things with her ex, Joe, only to discover he’s already brought a new girlfriend.
That heartbreak doesn’t last long because when Minnie downs a shot, she suddenly finds herself right back at the start of the night. With a bottle full of magical tequila shots, she gets multiple chances to change the outcome, but each reset sends the night spiraling even further out of control.
The official synopsis teases: “On New Year’s Eve, in 1999, with Y2K anxieties in the air and 'Coco Jamboo' on the radio, anaesthetist Minnie (Browning) jumps at the chance to attend a party with her ex Joe – whom she still hasn’t gotten over.
“But everything goes wrong when she realizes he's there with a new girlfriend. One swig from a bottle of tequila after midnight and, in the blink of an eye, Minnie has travelled back in time to the start of the party – a process that, she discovers, repeats with every drink she takes.
“Each do-over presents a new opportunity to fix her mistakes or compound them further. But will any of them allow her to win back Joe’s heart, or understand what it means to live with the consequences of her actions?”
Alongside Browning, the cast includes Aisha Dee, Sean Keenan, Hamish Michael, Ashley Zukerman, and Pallavi Sharda.
One More Shot marks the feature debut of director Nicholas Clifford, best known for the TV series Monologue and several acclaimed short films. The screenplay comes from Alice Foulcher and Gregory Erdstein, based on a story by Heather Wilson.
This tequila-fueled time loop looks like a mix of Groundhog Day chaos and Y2K nostalgia, with plenty of awkward romance and questionable decisions along the way. One More Shot will begin streaming on Stan in Australia starting October 12, 2025. There’s no word yet on a US release date.
