Finn Jones Discusses How Iron Fist Will Change and Mature in THE DEFENDERS

Character progression is an important part of telling a story in a television series. If you have a character that goes through multiple seasons of a series and doesn't change, you get a character that becomes very annoying to its audience. Which is why I'm excited to hear that Danny Rand will have some growing up to do in Marvel's The Defenders series.

During a recent interview with MCU ExchangeFinn Jones talks a bit about The Defenders and Iron Fist's role in it. He also talks about the character coming to terms with being a superhero and his responsibility:

"The thing [with] Danny is that we're taking an ordinary kid with a lot of issues and we're trying to iron those out first before getting to Danny as Iron Fist. And what we'll [see] in Defenders is Danny coming to terms with being a superhero. In the Defenders when he first starts, he doesn't even know what a superhero is and then he meets those guys and he's like 'Whoa. This is cool,' and by the end of it you kind of see Danny really coming to the grips with his responsibility in a much more mature way."

I actually like the fact that he is the immature one of the group. I feel like there needs to be someone like that. The more I think about The Defenders, the more I'm reminded of the Ninja Turtles. Jessica Jones is Raphael. Cool but Rude. Iron Fist is our Michelangelo. Naive and a Party dude.. ok fine a chill dude. Although none of them really do machines like Donatello, I would liken Daredevil's very thoughtful and lawyer skills to make him the smart one of the bunch. Then Luke Cage is Leonardo. Because he is probably the most grounded and well-rounded of the four of them.

I'm glad that Iron Fist will be going through a growing arc, but I still want to see the fun playful side of him. In fact, I hope he doesn't go straight from this to Iron Fist 2. I want a Heroes for Hire Netflix Series with Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Have them team up together just by themselves. I can't wait to see them bounce off each other. The Defenders will be released on Netflix on August 18th.
