First 6-Minutes of Jenna Ortega's WEDNESDAY Season 2
Netflix has officially pulled the coffin lid off Wednesday Season 2 with the release of the opening six minutes, and, they’re just as weird and chaoticly fun as you'd hope. Lady Gaga was also confirmed to appear in the series.
The scene features Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) tied to a dinner chair, gagged, and surrounded by a bizarre assembly of porcelain dolls. She’s gotten herself into this mess by stealing an object from a serial killer and performing some kind of ritual. You know, the usual teen hijinks., and speaking of serial killers… Haley Joel Osment is featured in the trailer, playing the new psychopath in town.
Ortega’s clearly still relishing every moment in the role, saying: “She's one of the coolest characters of all time. So to slip into the costume and tone again, it's just so much fun.”
From the jump, the second season raises the stakes and the weirdness. The Addams family gets a bigger spotlight this time, and yes, we’re getting Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) with a fencing foil. Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) joins Nevermore Academy himself, instantly becoming an awkward freshman under his sister’s gothic reign.
Co-showrunner Alfred Gough notes that the series is taking the opportunity to flesh out the broader Addams mythology: “There isn’t really a lot of Addams Family lore, so we wanted to delve deeper [into that].”
Expect more from Nevermore Academy, too. Director Tim Burton returns, and co-showrunner Miles Millar promises that Season 2 has “expanded in terms of the characters arcs and it's really fun to see them explore a lot more of Nevermore.”
As for poor Pugsley, Gough adds: “He’s kind of an outcast among outcasts this season. Isaac did a really beautiful job of capturing the pathos of Pugsley.”
Returning cast member Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin) assures fans the macabre magic is intact: “Everything people loved about season 1. They’ve just turned the dial up on everything.”
Here’s Netflix’s official tease of what’s to come: “Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem.
“Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.”
Season 2 of Wednesday will drop in two parts with Part 1 on August 6th, and Part 2 on September 3rd.
