Showtime debuted a full trailer for its highly-anticipated revival of Dexter, which is titled Dexter: New Blood. The trailer was shared during its Comic-Con@Home panel and it was also announced that the show will premiere on November 7th at 9pm, so we won’t have to wait much longer to see Michael C. Hall back in action as Dexter.

Dexter Morgan now goes by Jim Lindsay in the series, a sales associate at Fred's Fish & Game. Dexter’s new alias is a tribute to Jeff Lindsay, who is the author of the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter, which is the inspiration behind the Showtime hit.

The trailer is set to Del Shannon's "Runaway," and Dexter is really trying to leave his previous life as a serial killer behind. But, as you’ll see, that’s not going to be easy for him. When talking about the ending of this next season of the show, showrunner Clyde Phillips teased:

“When we sit in the writing room, one of the first things we do is talk about usually is what the ending will be. We put our notes against the ending and then walking backward and filling up the episodes. The ending of this one will be stunning, shocking, surprising, unexpected. Without jinxing anything, I will say that the ending of this new season will blow up the internet.”

Sounds great to me! I can’t wait to see what this next chapter of Dexter’s story will deliver! You can watch the trailer below along with the virtual panel from Comic-Con!

The new season of Dexter will consist of 10 episodes, and the story is set 10 years after Dexter Morgan (Hall) went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura. Dexter is now living under an assumed name in Upstate New York — far from his original home in Miami.

The series also stars Clancy Brown, Julia Jones, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah, David Magidoff, Jack Alcott, Jamie Chung, and Oscar Wahlberg. John Lithgow and Jennifer Carpenter are also returning to the show in some capacity.

Brown will be playing a character named Kurt Caldwell, the primary villain of the show. The character is described as the “unofficial mayor of the small town of Iron Lake. He’s realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by everyone – he’s a true man of the people. If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.”

Jones will play Angela Bishop, the first Native American Chief of Police in her town in upstate New York and she will be Dexter’s connection to law enforcement as he maneuvers in this sleepy town. Sequoyah portrays Audrey, Bishop’s brash and opinionated teenage daughter. Miller will play Logan, a sergeant for the Iron Lake Police Department and the assistant wrestling coach for the local high school. Alcott is Randall, with whom Dexter (Hall) has a meaningful encounter.

Chung will play a character named Molly, who is described as "a famous true-crime podcaster from Los Angeles." Then there’s Wahlberg, who will play Zach, "captain of the Iron Lake High School wrestling team" and the "gateway to the in-crowd, which includes the daughter of the chief of police."

It was previously revealed that Kurt’s son Matthew “has created many ‘messes’ over the years, messes that are cleaned up by Kurt with the wealth he has amassed throughout his lifetime.”
