FURIOSA Was Originally Developed as an Anime Spinoff Titled THE PEACH

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has been a long time coming. The story for Furiosa came while director George Miller was developing Mad Max: Fury Road. All these years later, he finally got around to making the movie!

It turns out that there was actually a finished script for Furiosa before Miller even shot Fury Road! The director shared this news himself, telling Games Radar: "We had finished the script of Furiosa before we shot Fury Road.”

Franchise producer Doug Mitchell added: "So Furiosa was ready, in a story sense, 15 years ago and it’s been percolating, the way things do in George’s brain, ever since."

It was then revealed that there was a point where Furiosa was being developed as an anime project that would’ve been titled The Peach.

Mahiro Maeda was set to direct the movie. He worked on projects such as the '90s classic Neon Genesis Evangelion, some Studio Ghibli projects, and one of the short films in The Animatrix.

There’s not any other information that’s given, but a Furiosa anime film would’ve been pretty awesome to see! Regardless, I’m still excited for the live-action version that’s coming! Anime would’ve been an interesting direction to go with it.

In the film, "As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus.

“Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home."

The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Daniel Webber, Lachy Hulme, and Quaden Bayles.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is scheduled to hit theaters on May 24, 2024.
