Games I Want Nintendo to Add to the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Libraries on Switch Online

During last week’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advanced titles were being added to Nintendo Switch Online and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass. This is a huge win for Nintendo in my opinion and I know many others have been anxiously waiting for their additions as well. I thought it’d be fun to talk about some games I would like to be added to these respective libraries.

Here are the guidelines I’ve set for myself. First, I will be breaking it into Game Boy/Color and Game Boy Advance to match the way they’re available on the Nintendo Switch. Second, I will limit each list to ten titles. Third, I will not be including anything that is already available on the Switch in another manner or is coming to the Switch (i.e. Mega Man Battle Network games, Shantae, etc.). Please keep in mind that this is just me putting together a wish list and is in no way a guarantee and I don’t even know how possible some of these would be. What games do you want to be added?

Game Boy/Color

  • Already Available

    • Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare

    • Game & Watch Gallery 3

    • Gargoyle’s Quest

    • Kirby’s Dream Land

    • Metroid II - Return of Samus

    • Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins

    • Tetris

    • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX

    • Wario Land 3

  • Already Announced

    • Kirby’s Tilt ‘n’ Tumble

    • Pokémon Trading Card Game

    • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

    • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

  • Top Wishes

    • Donkey Kong Land 1-3

      • I’ve heard really good things about these Donkey Kong games and would love to give them a go.

    • Harvest Moon

      • Another game I’ve never played, but heard so much about. My understanding is that it’s very similar to Stardew Valley and similar games. It’s supposed to be pretty chill.

    • Heroes of Might & Magic II

      • I love Heroes of Might & Magic and didn’t know there was a Game Boy game so I have to try it! From what I read it combines a lot from the first games on PC.

    • Perfect Dark

      • I honestly didn’t even know this existed until doing research for this article. It’s a prequel to the N64 game and it would be awesome if both of those titles were added to the service and you could use them together like with the Transfer Pak.

    • Pokémon Pinball

      • This was such a fun spin-off, I think it deserves to be brought back even if the original games don’t get added.

    • Pokémon R/B/Y/G/S/C

      • I’m so confused as to how none of the original Pokémon games were launch titles. How did that happen? It would be awesome if they could even include the Pokémon Bank features from the 3DS versions, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I’d also love it if they launched Pokémon Stadium for the N64 and you could access these games like with a Transfer Pak back in the day. Once again, I doubt it, but it would be amazing!

    • Pokémon TCG 2

      • I think it would be really cool for them to bring over this Japan exclusive game like they did with Star Fox 2 on the SNES.

    • Rayman

      • Rayman is a fun little platformer that could use a bit of a revival in my opinion.

    • Super Mario Land

      • They gave us the second one, I just want the first one too.

    • Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories

      • Does this follow any of the rules of Yu-Gi-Oh!? No. Will it be nostalgia fuel for me? Yes!

Game Boy Advance

  • Already Available

    • Kuru Kuru Kururin

    • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

    • Mario Kart: Super Circuit

    • Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3

    • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

    • WarioWare Inc.: Mega Microgame$

  • Already Announced

    • F-Zero Maximum Velocity

    • Fire Emblem

    • Golden Sun

    • Kirby and the Amazing Mirror

    • Metroid Fusion

  • Top Wishes

    • Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku

      • This is a Dragon Ball Z action RPG and I’ve never been able to play through it. I really just want to play through this game and its sequels!

    • Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors

      • This is a fun fighting game where you can be some of your favorite DBZ characters in teams of three before FighterZ was made. I’ve played a little bit of it before on an emulator and it was a blast!

    • Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

      • This is a famously incredible game. I’ve never played it, but I have friends who say it’s one of their favorite games ever and so I’d love to experience it.

    • Medabots Metabee/Rokusho

      • This is a fun game where you can customize your own Medabots for 3v3 combat that uses a pretty unique combat system. Plus, I feel like we’ve all forgotten how cool Medabots was in general.

    • Metroid Zero Mission

      • This was a remake of the original Metroid and features some bonus content at the end. It’s a lot of fun to play and looks amazing.

    • Pokémon R/S/E/FR/LG

      • Just like the Game Boy games, I’m flabbergasted that none of the core Pokémon games were launch titles. The first three generations are highly regarded by many with the third generation typically among any fan’s top 3 generations. What the heck?

    • Spider-Man: Mysterio’s Menace

      • I love the PS1 Spider-Man game and this is meant to be a standalone sequel to it and Spider-Man 2 so I’m instantly sold.

    • The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords

      • This one’s a little tricky for a couple reasons. First, it was on the same cartridge as a port of A Link to the Past which is already available via the SNES on Switch Online. Also, Four Swords is only multiplayer although I understand it was later rereleased as DSiWare for a limited time that introduced a single-player mode. Maybe we could get that version? I’d love to play a multiplayer Zelda game that’s not a spin-off and this is probably my best shot.

    • Yu-Gi-Oh! Games

      • Just put them all in. There were a bunch and they’re a mixed bag. You have the ones that actually have you play the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, there are ones that say “screw the rules!” and give you a dark JRPG, and then you have the spin-offs like Dungeon Dice Monsters. Just give them all to me!

    • Zoids Legacy

      • I love Zoids and I’ve played a fair amount of this game in my past, but I never finished it. It’s a really fun turn-based RPG where you can customize your Zoids and all the different show timelines and universes are thrown into a single story which means you’ll probably run into your favorite characters regardless of which show they are from.
