Gary Ross Hired to Rewrite and Direct Hockey Rivalry Movie OLD TIME HOCKEY
Four-time Oscar-nominated filmmaker Gary Ross, known for writing and directing great films like Seabiscuit, Pleasantville, The Hunger Games, and Ocean’s 8, has been hired on to direct and rewrite the film Old Time Hockey, based on an original script by Kevin Jakubowski (School of Rock, 8-Bit Christmas). The film will be produced by Skydance Sports and Jeremy Latcham.
“The original screenplay is set in the rust belt of Pennsylvania involving a high school hockey rivalry from the mid-’90s that gets re-kindled 25 years later.”
Launched in 2021, Skydance Sports has quickly become the preeminent studio for leagues, teams, elite athletes and A-List Hollywood talent seeking to produce premium, sports-related entertainment. Skydance Sports first two projects includes the Emmy nominated docuseries Good Rivals and the critically acclaimed feature film Air, both streaming on Prime Video.
This sounds like it could be a good movie. I love a good sports film with a great story, and Ross has directed some solid pictures in the past. Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses.
