Heartfelt Trailer for the Jim Henson Documentary JIM HENSON IDEA MAN

Disney+ has released the first trailer for the upcoming Jim Henson documentary Jim Henson Idea Man, which comes from director Ron Howard.

The heartfelt doc pulls back the curtain on Henson’s life offering a glimpse into the legendary puppeteer's life and career. Henson is known for creating the Muppets and bringing to life the characters in Sesame Street, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth.

The documentary was made with the involvement of Henson's family, and it features interviews with Rita Moreno, Labyrinth star Jennifer Connelly, Henson's four children, and his collaborators Frank Oz and Michael Firth.

The film will include archival footage from throughout Henson's life that we’ve never seen before, and the trailer is set to Kermit the Frog's iconic song "Rainbow Connection" from 1979's The Muppet Movie.

The film "takes us into the mind of this singular creative visionary, from his early year’s puppeteering on local television to the worldwide success of Sesame Street, The Muppet Show and beyond.

"Featuring new interviews with Henson's closest collaborators and children, as well as never-before-seen materials from his personal archives — including home movies, photographs, sketches and diaries — Howard brings us an entertaining and insightful look at a man whose boundless imagination changed the world.”

Howard said in a statement: "As a documentary subject it immediately felt incumbent upon me to try to infuse the audience's experience with as much of Jim's creative flavor, originality, energy, fun and creativity as I possibly could.”

Henson passed in 1990 at the age of 53 and his characters and projects have lived on and thrived through Disney, which purchased the rights to the Muppets characters from the Jim Henson Company in 2004.

Jim Henson Idea Man is produced by Imagine Documentaries, and it will be released on Disney+ on May 31.
