Heartwarming New Trailer For DETECTIVE PIKACHU Tugs on the Heartstrings and Features Lots of New Footage
We’ve got a new trailer to share with you for Detective Pikachu today, and this one is a lot different from the trailers that we’ve previously seen. While the other trailers play up the comedic elements of the film, this one is much more heartwarming and emotional. This one definitely tugs at the heartstrings.
I actually really like this trailer. I wasn’t expecting this movie to have this kind of heart to it, so to see that it does is actually really nice. I also included a new behind-the-scenes look at the film.
Here’s the synopsis:
In a world where people collect pocket-size monsters (pokemon) to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent monster who seeks to be a detective.
Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) takes on the role of Pikachu, and he is joined by Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), Ken Watanabe (Inception), Suki Waterhouse (Revenge), Rita Ora (Fifty Shades Freed), and Bill Nighy (Gideon’s Daughter).
The story of Detective Pikachu centers around Smith’s character’s father getting kidnapped. He teams up with Pikachu (Reynolds) to help find him. Newton plays a journalist who helps them on their quest. Ken Watanabe will play a new character created for the film called Detective Yoshida.
Detective Pikachu is directed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman from a script written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls). Detective Pikachu will be the first film in a planned franchise centering on the character.
Detective Pikachu hits theaters on May 10th, 2019.
