If You've Been Hoping For THE RAID 3 It's Not Going to Happen and Here's Why

In my opinion The Raid films are two of the best and most badass action films ever made! I love those films and I’ve been excited about the prospect of a third one. Unfortunately, it sounds like that third movie is never going to happen. While talking to CinemaBlend, director Gareth Evans reveals that jumping back into that world doesn’t appeal to him:

“The Raid 1 and 2 were incredible for me, but I just didn’t want to be doing The Raids all the time. And the more time has gone on from that, the less interested I’ve been to go back there. What we did with The Raid 2, we kinda close that off nicely, so it didn’t really appeal to me to jump back into that world again.”

He went on to say that he had a story idea for The Raid 3 at one point, but explains that he was happy with the conclusion that we got with the The Raid 2:

“The Raid 3 was… at one point it was on my radar. I had a full idea. I know what the storyline would have been. But I think enough time has passed now that I think I’m not likely to go back and revisit it. We had a lot of fun making those films, and I think we came to a nice, sort of natural conclusion with it. And I think sometimes you can have a little bit too much of a good thing.”

It sucks to hear that we won’t be getting a third Raid film, but I understand what Evans is saying. Regardless, he’s a great filmmaker and I’ll be looking forward to seeing what other projects he ends up developing. His next film is the crazy looking cult thriller Apostle, which is coming to Netflix.
