INDIANA JONES 5 Confirmed to Start Filming in 2019

We had previously heard that the fifth movie in the Indiana Jones franchise was set to begin filming sometime in 2019. Steven Spielberg has confirmed that the film will start filming in April 2019. At the Empire Awards, he mentioned in a speech:

It’s always worth the trip when I get to work with this deep bench of talent coming out of the UK. The actors, and the crew, the chippies, the sparks, the drivers — everybody who has helped me make my movies here, and will continue helping me make my movies here when I come back in April 2019 to make the fifth Indiana Jones movie right here.

We still have no details of what to expect in terms of story, but our own Joey Paur has made a list of potential influences for the next film. We do know that Harrison Ford will return and reprise his role as the world-famous archaeologist. We also know that the screenplay is being written by David Koepp, with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall also working on the film.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has also mentioned before that this will not be the last Indiana Jones movie. This has me a little worried. I love Ford, but I don’t know how much longer he’ll be able to play the role. Does this mean that he’ll hand the torch off to a new Indy? If so, who should be the new adventurer for a new generation?

Indiana Jones 5 is set to release July 10, 2020.
