Jamie Lee Curtis and Betty White Among Actors to Headline New Original Films Coming to Lifetime
Lifetime Movie Network is bulking up their original film slate with a few films with some great actresses. Jamie Lee Curtis will be directing, executive producing, and starring in How We Sleep at Night: The Sara Cunningham Story, based on a memoir she optioned the rights for last year. The book tells the true story of a devout Christian mother who comes to terms with her son being gay. The script is being written by Sally Robinson, and the film will be distributed by Sony Pictures.
Another film is holiday themed, and stars Betty White as a “sassy drill sergeant of a Christmas bootcamp.” This movie is in the mix with a slate of new holiday films in a collection they call “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime.” These films include a Kelly Rowland sequel to Merry Liddle Christmas called Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding, which she will exec-produce and star in. Also joining the lineup is Feliz NaviDad, starring Mario Lopez, which is being directed by Melissa Joan Hart.
Deadline reports the cabler is also delving into a royal story entitled Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace (working title), which “will follow the couple’s controversial conscious uncoupling from the crown after the birth of their son Archie.” These titles are part of Lifetime’s 50-movie premiere between May and December 2020.
