Jason Momoa Says He's Excited For AQUAMAN 2, Teases it's Way Bigger! Plus, the Actor Shares His Thoughts on His Step-Daughter's New Role in THE BATMAN

This past Monday night, Jason Momoa walked the red carpet for the premiere of his Apple TV+ series See. While there, ET was able to chat with the star about his anticipated sequel Aquaman 2. The film is set to hit theaters three years from now, so we still have quite a wait ahead of us. What we know so far is that Momoa will return as the underwater hero, Amber Heard will reprise her role of Mera, with director James Wan returning to helm, and writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick coming back to pen the script as well.

When asked about the sequel, Momoa teased that the next film will be “way bigger.” Here’s what he had to say:

“There’s a lot more in store on so many more levels. There’s going to be a lot. It’s way bigger!”

He went on to add that he had some ideas and input about where the story will lead, and he was able to take them to the studio. He added:

“I’m really stoked at the fan base and what we did with the movie and just went into Warner Bros in D.C. and said, ‘You know, I have some ideas. And, they love them and James [Wan, director] and everyone is like, ‘We’re all taking it in. We’re excited to do another one.’”

He was then asked about his step-daughter Zoe Kravitz’s new role as Catwoman in the upcoming film The Batman. He commented on the fame that he was suddenly thrust into when he took on the role of Aquaman, and said of her role:

“That’s actually the first thing I said to her -- ‘Your life’s going to change. I’ve been hiding for a good solid 18 years and all of a sudden, Aquaman happened and boom! So, that’s the one thing I don’t even know if I’m prepared for -- she’s going to be huge. She’s beautiful, she’s talented. She’s going to kill it and [I’ll be like], ‘Well, welcome to the team baby!’”

It’s pretty cool that they are both a part of the DC universe! I’m super excited about both of these films and can’t wait to see what makes this film bigger and better than the first. What would you like to see come out of the sequel? Aquaman 2 is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
