Josh Brolin Pissed Off James Cameron By Turning Down a Role in The AVATAR Sequels

I've heard from several people that have worked with James Cameron over the years that the guy has a temper. Josh Brolin was at the receiving end of Cameron's temper after he turned down a role in the upcoming Avatar sequels.

Cameron wanted to cast Brolin in the film where he would join Sam WorthingtonZoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver. Then there's Stephen Lang and Matt Gerald, who are coming back to reprise their roles of Colonel Miles Quaritch and Corporal Lyle Wainfleet. They will be the main villains over the course of the upcoming four sequels.

Brolin didn't want to do it, though, so he said no. Apparently, Cameron doesn't like being told no. Brolin tells Esquire:

“If I don’t want to do ‘Avatar,’ I’m not going to do ‘Avatar.’ James Cameron’s f—ing calling me this name and that name. Whatever. If James Cameron came to me and said, ‘Hey, man, why’d you say that?’ I’d go, ‘Because it happened.'”

I love that Brolin is so laid back about it. He doesn't care that he's putting this experience he had with Cameron out there. It's interesting that Cameron would get so upset and angry about Brolin not taking the role. It's not like Cameron would have any issues finding another solid actor to take it on.

Brolin apparently had better things to do like play Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Cable in Deadpool 2. I'd much rather see him in those roles than anything in Avatar

As far as Cameron's temper and the high demands he expects from his actors and crew, there's a reason the director manages to make great movies. Everyone that has worked with him says he has an amazing work ethic. Still, why resort to calling people insulting names for turning down a part in a movie. Acrtors turn down movie roles all the time!
