JURASSIC WORLD Screenwriter Derek Connolly Hired to Write The METAL GEAR SOLID Movie
Screenwriter Derek Connolly, who wrote Jurassic World for director Colin Trevorrow has been hired to write the script for the big screen adaptation of Metal Gear Solid for Sony Pictures.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct the movie and has previously talked about how he plans on tackling it. Connolly actually previously worked with Vogt-Roberts on the film Kong: Skull Island.
This is a passion project for the director who previously said:
"It’s a movie I fought tooth and nail to try and attach myself to because it is potentially the most precious property on this Earth to me. And it is one of the most tricky and idiosyncratic properties on the planet."
He went on to talk about how he wants to give us the best feature film version of it that there can be. In a separate interview, he said:
"To me Metal Gear Solid is not just a great video game. Like I said I think it’s a great story. I think it’s a great story and a work of art. And a great like singular voice on this planet in terms of media. So my goal right now is to sort of work and make sure that we’re having the best version of that. So that fans and everyone can sort of experience the brilliance of [Metal Gear creator Hideo] Kojima’s work."
I really hope that Vogt-Roberts can pull this off and give fans a great film adaptation! Avi Arad (Spider-Man) is producing.
