Paramount has found the director for their biopic about reggae music legend Bob Marley with Reinaldo Marcus Green. He has directed the films Monsters and Men and Joe Bell, as well as the Will Smith-led film King Richard, which tells the story of Venus and Serena Williams and their coach and father, Richard Williams, and is currently filming and set for a November release.

Marley passed away in 1981 from cancer, and left behind a legacy of music that has continued to live on through the generations. Ziggy Marley, Rita Marley, and Cedella Marley will produce on behalf of Tuff Gong. Robert Teitel will also produce.

Green said of the project:

“Bob Marley’s music lives on in all of us. His lyrics transcend continents, color, creed, and generations of people. It heals. It fights. It bleeds love and truth. It’s a true honor and privilege to work with Ziggy and the Marley Family, and Paramount Pictures to bring his story to life. Audiences want to know the real Bob, the man as well as the legend. I trust this film will bring us closer to understanding his journey, his music, and continue to carry the torch of his legacy with humility and grace, and most of all, love.”

This is an exciting movie to see getting made. I love Bob Marley, and I can’t wait to learn more about his life. Are you looking forward to the Marley biopic?
