Let's Talk About MIGHTY MORPHIN #11
In Mighty Morphin #10, fans learned the first part of Lord Zedd’s origin. Before that, Zelya had been captured by Zedd who said he was going to tell her a story. There’s also been tensions building with Matt, Billy is not on Zordon’s good side, and much more.
Now, Mighty Morphin #11 is out and it’s incredible as fans get ready for the upcoming Eltarian Invasion storyline. The series is written by Ryan Parrott with art by Marco Renna, colors by Walter Baiamonte with assistance by Sara Antonellini & Katia Ranalli, and letters by Ed Dukeshire. You can purchase your copy now from your local comic shop, comiXology (affiliate link), or wherever you like to buy comics.
Holy crap! We start off not with what was in the preview, but actually with a little epilogue to Mighty Morphin #10 with Zartus visiting Zophram in a cave. Zophram is doing better, but he’s still missing skin and his mind is slipping. Eltar believes that Zophram died a hero and Zophram believes that Zordon knew that bad things would happen if the Zeo Crystal was touched. THere’s a bit more, but the gist is that Zophram believes that Zordon wanted him to suffer. This makes Zartus happy as Zophram decides to pledge his new life to the destruction of Eltar.
Then we get to the scenes that were included in the preview. This is followed by Zartus’ plans for the attack on Zedd and Bandora’s palace on the moon. We then learn that each member of Sentry Force Four has a different ability for use during combat and as they leave, Zartus tells Tommy that he will replace anyone that Tommy thinks is unfit to wield a Power Coin. Cut over to Billy who’s working on a secret project that he won’t even tell Grace about. He’s a little sour about how working with her has complicated things with Zordon and the other Rangers. Grace leaves him alone reminding him that he’s always welcome at Promethea. Oh, she also is wondering what’s up with the Eltarian shop above the planet.
Back on said ship, Zartus and the SFF are talking about their true intentions. They talk a lot of trash about the Rangers (with the exception of Zag saying that Adam is cute). We don’t get very much explicit information, but the Eltarians are definitely going to cause problems for Earth. We then find that Zelya is no longer Zedd’s prisoner and has made it back to Zartus safely. She clearly is not part of Zartus’ inner circle and this is confirmed when later, she attacks him. She’s defeated by the SFF, but it’s still crazy. It appears Zedd got to her except for the last couple of pages.
In the final pages, Zartus tells Zordon that Zelya is back safely and then requests the Power Coins for his soldiers. He basically says the Rangers can keep them while they bring down Zedd, but then he needs the coins for bringing down the Empyreals (who he secretly is controlling). After the conversation, we find out that Zelya warned Zordon and the Rangers about the truth of Zartus’ plans.
This is going to be nuts. Zartus clearly believes that he’s doing the right thing, but he’s very clearly not. Several times, he says that everything he does is for Eltar, but we all know he’s just lying to himself. Zordon is learning some dark parts of the past that are connected to him which in turn is having him question things. Billy is trying to figure out where he can fit in and belong. Matt is...well, he’s trying to figure some things out and he’s trying his best. I’m so pumped for the Eltarian Invasion!
