Let's Talk About POWER RANGERS #10

BOOM! Studios has released Power Rangers #10 from writers Ryan Parrott and Rachel Wagner, artist Moisés Hidalgo, colorist Raúl Angulo with assistance from Jose Enrique Fernández, and letterer Ed Dukeshire. This is a very different, but exciting moment in the comic series. BOOM! Was kind enough to provide me with a copy of the issue, and you can purchase your copy from your local comic shop, comiXology (affiliate link), or wherever you like to buy comics now.

Yale, the Omega Rangers’ alien companion, embarks on a solo mission to protect a group of kids from the terrors of Safehaven. Guided by the voice of the Blue Emissary, Yale will travel closer to his destiny… but what does this mean for the Omega Rangers?

Picking up where the preview left off, I don’t know what I was expecting from this issue, but it was not what we got. Throughout the comic, we follow Yale and even learn of their past while the voice of the Blue Emissary narrates things. We find Yale has a big heart and has always been about protecting others, especially children. He’s then guided to a temple that is said to be one that the Morphin Masters used to use to train and goes to a box that has an Omega Morpher in it! It looks like Yale will be taking over as the Omega Blue Ranger which is awesome.

As Yale approaches the morpher, it’s interesting what the Blue Emissary is saying. He admits that he was wrong. He mistook the positive qualities of Yale for negative ones. I think this is also his admission that maybe there were others he was wrong about. The most obvious one is Kiya, but there may have been others. He talks about remedying the wrongs that he made which is very interesting. I wonder if this is going to lead to a huge release of many of the empowered that were captured in jars.

One final part that struck me was that the Blue Emissary talked about showing Yale the Alpha and Omega. We know about the Alpha robots like Alpha 5 and the Omega Rangers, but could there be Alpha Rangers? There’s talk of Yale completing the circle and being the missing piece of the puzzle. I wonder if Yale’s becoming a Ranger is going to unlock a lot more power for the Omegas and maybe they’ll even become Alphas? I’m probably way off on the whole Alpha thing, but I’m very interested to see what kinds of new powers they unlock with Yale at their side.
