Marvel Unleashes First Trailer for THUNDERBOLTS*
Marvel has released the first trailer for Thunderbolts*, and it offers an exciting first look at what this next Marvel movie has to offer. It’s filled with the kind of action-packed footage that you’d expect to see from Marvel and it also teases the story that brings these misfit Marvel characters together.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus reprises her role as CIA director Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Thunderbolts*. She made her debut in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ when she talked John Walker (Wyatt Russell) into dropping the Captain America persona in favor of U.S. Agent.
De Fontaine later showed up in the post-credit scene in Black Widow when she assigned Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) to eliminate Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).
Her most recent appearance was in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and there it revealed she was director of the CIA.
The cast of Thunderbolts* also includes Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Lewis Pullman as The Sentry, and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
The trailer begins with Yelena visiting Red Guardian, and in their conversation, she is clearly looking for some meaningful purpose in her life as she’s not happy with what she’s been doing.
Things escalate as we see each of the characters in various stages of their personal lives in disarray. Then they show up at a facility where they’ve been individually hired to complete a job, but they soon find out it’s a trap.
The film is being directed by Jake Schreier (Paper Towns, Kidding) and was written by Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow) and Kurt Busiek.
Thunderbolts* is currently set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025. You can also check out a new poster below.
