MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Star Noah Centineo Discusses the Responsibility of Playing He-Man

After years of trying to get a live-action Masters of the Universe film off the ground, Sony Pictures is finally moving forward with it and getting it ready for production.

It was previously reported that Noah Centineo (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Perfect Date, and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser) was cast in the role of He-Man. A lot of fans aren’t really happy with the casting choice, but I’m curious to see what writers Matt Holloway and Art Marcum (Iron Man and Men in Black: International) and directors Aaron and Adam Nee (Band of Robbers) are planning.

During a recent interview with MTV, Centineo talked about the responsibility of playing He-Man in the movie, saying:

"It’s a really big responsibility. This is like first one in, last one out every single day, which I’ve done before, but I’ve never done it on a studio level. Which, studio level is the same as indie, but like, they got playback... It’s a big opportunity and I feel more than ready to tackle it."

During the interview, Centineo was also asked if he's started practicing He-Man's iconic phrase, "I have the power!", to which he responded:

“I’ve been screaming it until my voice is vocally fried, man."

The actor was also asked about the tone of the film, but it’s a question he didn’t want to answer. He just talked about the confidence he has in the filmmakers:

"It’s a new universe and it’s a new studio and their take on a universe. The Nee brothers, Adam and Aaron Nee, they’re directing it, and they’re the filmmakers in charge of the story, and they are doing one hell of a job developing the world and all these things, so. I can’t tell you what tone they’re going for, but they’re genius, so."

I have no idea what to expect from this movie, but as a long time fan of the He-Man and The Masters of the Universe cartoon and action figures, I really hope that the creative team ends up giving the fans like mesomething awesome, something that we will love and enjoy. Only time will tell.

Do you think this Masters of the Universe film will be good? What do you hope to see from it?
