McDonald's Apologizes For Szechuan Sauce Shortage, Promises More In The Winter

In what has been the weirdest story of 2017, McDonald's is apologizing after a weekend promotion for Szechuan Sauce ended in disappointment, scalping sauce packets online, and even violence (via Slashfilm). McDonald's apparently vastly underestimated the amount of Rick And Morty fans that would arrive for the sauce, and it was reported most locations were allotted 20-70 ketchup size packets of the sauce.

When participating locations soon were flooded with hundreds looking to get their hands on the sauce, things got ugly quick. At the end of the day, it was a disaster for McDonald's who is now taking to social media to apologize and make good on their initial promise to fans:

More sauce for the Winter, and a lot more locations seem like a good way to satisfy fans, but I gotta say it's absolutely insane that things have elevated to this level. I'm almost 100% sure the sauce is not as good as Justin Roiland remembers, which is likely why McDonald's is not trying to bring it back for a widespread release. To get so angry to the point that people are fighting in the streets for sauce is absolutely insane...unless it's their Chipotle BBQ because they need to bring that back I'm so mad it's gone.
