Michael Keaton Reportedly Shot a Batman Scene for AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM

Last week we learned from Jason Momoa that Ben Affleck reprised his role of Batman in director James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Well, it sounds like he wasn’t the only actor to reprise his role as Batman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “multiple sources” are saying that Michael Keaton filmed a scene for the Aquaman sequel as well. That scene ended up being cut from the film and replaced by Affleck’s version of the Dark Knight.

The report explains that “test audiences found [Keaton’s scene] confusing, as it was unclear why Keaton’s Batman was in this universe.” Of course it would be confusing, Keaton’s Batman was supposed to be reintroduced in The Flash. But, as of right now, The Flash isn’t set to be released until after The Lost Kingdom.

Keaton’s Batman was definitely being set up as the definitive Batman of the DCEU when Affleck announced he was done with the character. Well, he’s obviously not quite done with Batman yet. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Keaton’s Batman with all of the changes happening with the DC films at Warner Bros.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
