Miramax Picks Up MR. & MRS. SMITH-like Action Comedy THE ARMSTRONGS

Miramax has picked up the action comedy script The Armstrongs, which is being described as Mr. and Mrs. Smith meets Taken and explores the premise of what would happen if characters like Mr. and Mrs. Smith were divorced and then had to come together and work a gig? There is no direct link to the Mr. & Mrs Smith movie they are only using it as a point of reference. The plot is described:

A divorced couple in suburbia have to come out of witness protection when their son is kidnapped and their past catches up with them. They find themselves having to reassemble their old team to successfully complete the mission.

Deadline Hollywood reports that the project is written by newcomers Jason Markarian and John Mirabella. No director or actors are attached yet, but Mirimax is currently on the hunt and really wants to get this one into production as soon as possible.
