Nereus and Mera Confirmed To Be Father and Daughter Instead of Lovers in AQUAMAN

If you’re keeping up to date on all of the rumors around Aquaman, you may have heard one that said Nereus and Mera would have a different kind of relationship than in the New 52 comics. That rumor has been confirmed as fact. In the New 52 comics, Mera and Nereus are would-be lovers, but according to Dolph Lundgren, they will be father and daughter. Talking to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Lundgreen was asked a bit about his role in the film and he mentions this relationship:

“It is good to be king. Basically, I try to keep the peace down there along with Amber Heard, who plays my daughter. She’s trying to convince me to join the right side. Then you have Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s mother. We’re trying to avoid war between the surface dwells and the people of Atlantis.”
