New ANDOR Season 2 Sneak Peek Teases a Dark Turning Point for the Rebellion

Lucasfilm quietly released a new sneak peek video for Andor Season 2 on Disney+, giving Star Wars fans a fresh new look at the next chapter in Cassian Andor’s journey.

The featurette, which has since surfaced online, offers a cool glimpse at what’s to come with bigger stakes, rising tensions, and what appears to be a dark turning point in the rebellion.

One particular moment from the footage shows a crowd of protestors, with the closed captions identifying them as "singing in Ghor." For longtime Star Wars fans, this points to a major historical event involving the Ghorman Massacre, which was a tragic, Empire-orchestrated atrocity that played a crucial role in pushing Mon Mothma to take a decisive stand against the Emperor.

The Ghorman Massacre was a brutal turning point in Star Wars lore. Taking place in 2 BBY, Imperial forces slaughtered thousands of peaceful demonstrators on the planet Ghorman, an act of cruelty that ultimately solidified Mon Mothma’s break from the Senate and cemented her role as a leading figure in the Rebellion.

If Andor Season 2 is tackling this event, fans are in for an intense and deeply significant chapter in the Star Wars timeline.

Beyond the new footage, the cast and crew have shared insight into what to expect from the upcoming season.

Showrunner Tony Gilroy makes it clear that the story is going full throttle, saying: "Revolutionary movements are spontaneously happening all over the galaxy. How those come together is the stuff of our story…

“These 12 episodes are gonna take us over the next four years into Rogue One. The complexity of the show, the possibilities of the show. It has to be all in."

The twelve episodes of second season will carry the story of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and the emerging rebel alliance over the climactic four years that lead to the discovery of The Death Star and the events of Rogue One.

“Season One followed Cassian’s reluctant journey from cynical nobody to revolutionary volunteer. Andor Season Two will see him transform from soldier to leader to hero on the way to his epic destiny. From the very first scene, Cassian’s story has activated an ever-widening ensemble of allies and enemies.

“Season Two will see these relationships intensify as the horizon of galactic war draws near. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices, and conflicting agendas will become profound. Who will live to see their dream realized? Who will realize what the dream cost?”

Season 2 features the return of Ben Mendelsohn as Imperial officer Orson Krennic and Alan Tudyk as the acerbic reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO. Along with Luna, the returning cast includes Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Faye Marsay, Varada Sethu and Forest Whitaker.

The series was created and executive produced by Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy. Andor Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on April 22, 2025.
