New Featurette For Blumhouse's New Thriller DROP
Universal Pictures has released a behind-the-scenes featurette for Blumhouse’s great-looking thriller upcoming Drop, which comes from Christopher Landon , the director behind Happy Death Day and Freaky.
Landon talked about the conception of the film saying: “I wrote a film called Disturbia, which was Hitchcock by way of John Hughes. This felt like the evolution of that kind of a film. It straddles Hitchcock, but it’s also very much like a ’90s thriller, but it’s using very modern technology.”
The video also includes some more footage from the film almong with Landon explaining why he directed it the way his did. There’s some interesting insight here!
The film stars Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) and Brandon Sklenar (It Ends With Us) as a couple on a blind date, and during their romantic dinner things spiral out of control.
“Violet, a widowed mother on her first date in years, arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry is more charming and handsome than she expected.
“But their chemistry begins to curdle as Violet begins being irritated and then terrorized by a series of anonymous drops to her phone.
“She is instructed to tell nobody and follow instructions or the hooded figure she sees on her home security cameras will kill Violet’s young son and babysitting sister.
“Violet must do exactly as directed or everyone she loves will die. Her unseen tormentor’s final directive? Kill Henry.”
The movie also stars Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson, Reed Diamond, Gabrielle Ryan, Jeffery Self, Ed Weeks, and Travis Nelson.
The film was written by Jillian Jacobs and Christopher Roach (Truth or Dare, Fantasy Island) and Landon calls it a love letter to Brian De Palma.
Drop drops in theaters on April 11. You can watch the trailer for the film here.
