New STAR WARS: VISIONS Comic From AFRO SAMURAI Creator Will Explore the Ronin's Sith Origins

Marvel Comics recently announced a new Star Wars comic series that will expand on the Star Wars: Visions line of stories. These are one-shot comics that will offer creators the chance to play with Star Wars storytelling in cool and unique ways, with their own individual styles as well as elements from their cultures and backgrounds.

Peach Momoko will kick things off in November with Star Wars: Visions – Peach Momoko #1, “the issue will be the first in a new series of tales from comics creators untethered to previous Star Wars storytelling, very much in the spirit of Lucasfilm’s animated anthology of the same name.”

It was also announced that manga artist Takashi Okazaki, the creator of Afro Samurai, will also get to tell his own Star Wars story with Star Wars: Visions - Takashi Okazaki #1

His Star Wars story will put a focus on the mysterious Ronin, which is a character that he already introduced in Kamikaze Douga studios' acclaimed episode of the Star Wars: Visions animated series, "The Duel" and the character was also revisited in last year's Star Wars: Visions #1 comic one-shot.

Set in a world inspired by Feudal Japan, the Ronin's adventures are influenced by Samurai films and told mostly in bold black and white, all resulting in a transcendent Star Wars experience. With this new Ronin story, it’s time to shed light on the enigmatic warrior’s dark past and further explore his powerful connection to the Force.

The new story will focus on the early history of the Ronin and his Sith origins. Editor Danny Khazem said in a statement: "The Ronin is such a unique character, but one that still feels at home in the Star Wars galaxy. He was one of the most fan-favorite introductions from the Disney+ series and now, Takashi gets the chance to expand upon the history of the Ronin here. We're all blown away with the work he has been doing and this issue is no exception: the action and intrigue all packed into this one-shot is stunning!"
