Nintendo Unveils HYRULE WARRIORS: AGE OF CALAMITY
Nintendo recently made an announcement that many Zelda fans are excited for. No, it wasn’t more information on Breath of the Wild 2. Instead, it was for a new Hyrule Warriors game that Koei Tecmo has been working on called Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
This game will put players at the forefront of the battle 100 years before the events of Breath of the Wild. You’ll be able to vanquish evil as Link, Zelda, and the four Champions: Daruk, Mipha, Rivali, and Urbosa. Age of Calamity will once again feature 1 vs 1000 gameplay that many find to be a lot of fun and it will be available on the Nintendo Switch on November 20.
Personally, I’m a little torn about Age of Calamity. I understand that due to the art style and what I hope is a bit of an extensive story mode, this had to be a second game instead of merely DLC. However, I can’t help but feel like it’s going to be very limited.
The character pool consists of six known characters, and I can imagine they might include Ganon, Impa, and then maybe one to two brand-new original characters. That would give us 10 characters to play as. One of the great things about Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition was that we got to play with a roster of 28 characters from across multiple Legend of Zelda games.
I hope I’m proven wrong and there’s more pull to this game than what we currently see. That said, I am really excited for Age of Calamity as I would love to play as Urbosa, and I do like the art style. You can pre-order your copy through the official site. What do you think of this new announcement?
