Noah Centineo Cast as Atom Smasher in Dwayne Johnson's BLACK ADAM

Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Perfect Date) has joined the cast of DC Entertainment’s Black Adam, and he will take on the role of Atom Smasher. Centineo has mostly starred in a bunch of Netflix films, but he’s also set to play He-Man in the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie.

Atom Smasher is a character who can control his molecular structure with the ability to manipulate his size, strength, and durability. There were rumors that this character would be a part of the movie, so it’s cool to see that we’ve now got confirmation.

Black Adam is going to be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) from a script by Adam Sztykiel. Dwayne Johnson will take on the title role, and he’s been working on getting this project off the ground for years! But it’s finally happening! When previously talking about his passion for the project. Johnson said:

“Black Adam has been with me for over ten years now. That gives you an idea of how passionate I am about this project. How passionate our Seven Bucks is about this project. Warner Bros., New Line Cinemas, DC, they have been so incredibly supportive over the years. In 2008 was when we first started talking about this. So it has required patience by all of us as partners. And I’m a much different man and actor than I was ten years ago. Even then, ten years ago, I just wanted to wait for the timing to feel right. And it feels like now, the man that I’ve become, I’m able to bring a little bit of my own life lessons and philosophies and engrain them in the DNA of this character.”

Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia also previously talked about Black Adam, saying:

"You're going to meet a character who's going through a journey. He was created as a villain. And through the love of the fans and through some great writers and storytellers, he evolved into an antihero. The antihero is a character that we always loved and that we responded to. But we understand that there's been many aspects to Black Adam through him. But ultimately this is a guy who, he does have a moral compass, as skewed as it may be. And ultimately he is a guy that everything has always been driven by his family and what happens to them and he is never opposed to unleashing hell when you cross him. So, I think when you add in those elements of that DNA, those are things we're very aware of."

Black Adam is set to shoot in Georgia during early 2021. The movie will also be part of the first-ever DC FanDome event on August 22.
