Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, and Alan Cumming Officially Cast in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY

Marvel has officially confirmed that Patrick Stewart is back as Professor Charles Xavier in Avengers: Doomsday, and how can you not be excited about that!? While it was rumnored in the past, I wasn’t sure if it would actually happen.

It was also announced that Ian McKellen is returning to reprise here role as Magneto, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Alan Cumming will be back as Nightcrawler! I gotta say, I didn’t see that one coming, but I love it!

The announcement came during a Marvel Studios livestream, which also confirmed that production on Avengers: Doomsday is now underway. The film is expected to be a massive culmination of over two decades of MCU storytelling, and obviously Marvel isn’t holding back.

Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, and Sebastian Stan are among the expected returning faces. But what’s really getting fans buzzing are the surprise returns like Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as Beast from X-Men: The Last Stand, and the Mutants are coming! in a big and exciting way!

There’s no word yet on how these characters will fit into the plot, which is, of course, being kept under lock and key, but I can’t wait to see how they will factor in the story.

Other confirmed cast members include Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, and  Lewis Pullman’s Bob/Sentry.

They will be joined by Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke‘s M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen‘s Ghost, and as of posting this, there are more to come.

Doomsday is currently slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following on May 7, 2027.
