Review: Zordon Dice Tower & GM Screen for POWER RANGERS Gaming

Earlier this year, Renegade Game Studios sent me one of their Zordon Dice Tower & GM Screen. This can be used with the Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid board game and Power Rangers Roleplaying Game. Inside, you’ll find a dice tower shaped like Zordon’s tube as well as two panels with all the same information as the original GM Screen. If you like what I have to share below, you can purchase your own Zordon Dice Tower & GM Screen from Renegade with an MSRP of $70.

Aesthetically, the Zordon Dice Tower & GM Screen looks great. I do kind of wish the tower was a little taller to better line up with the GM Screen, but that’s a minor nitpick. It does help with immersion and to set the mood while playing the game. On the GM side of things, I do question the layout on the side with information. On the original GM Screen, the background is a soft off-white color and text was really easy to read. With the new GM Screen, the background is colored more blue and pink. Everything is still legible, but not as legible in my opinion. That being said, all of the information appears to be the same between the two.

If you want to further customize your 9” Zordon Dice Tower, it’s really easy. You can remove the clear tube and paint the rest as you see fit. Thankfully, I wouldn’t say that the tube really needs a paint job to look good.

One area of weakness with the Zordon Dice Tower for me is the fact that all the rolls happen in front of the board. For Heroes of the Grid, this is no big deal. However, when playing the Power Rangers RPG, I wish that I could turn the base or something so that the dice could go behind the GM screen. I don’t do very many rolls in front of the GM screen and so for me, the dice tower becomes a nice table decoration for the majority of RPG sessions unless my players want to use it.

At the end of the day, I think the Zordon Dice Tower & GM Screen is a really fun luxury item for fans of the Power Rangers games from Renegade. The versatility of the dice tower being usable for either the RPG or Heroes of the Grid definitely gives it a bit of a boost. Also, the GM screen helps create fantastic ambiance for your gaming sessions with helpful information. Plus, you can paint the tower if you’re wanting a more personal touch. There are a couple of things I would change and the price feels a bit steep, but if you go in with the mindset that this is not a necessity, but rather a luxury to upgrade your Power Rangers game nights, this is a very solid option.
