RICK AND MORTY Co-Creator Justin Roiland Says the Series "Could Go on Forever"

For those of you wondering how much longer Rick and Morty can go for before it comes to an end, co-creator Justin Roiland says that it “could go on forever.” Rick and Morty is going strong, and it’s backed by the confidence of Adult Swim, which ordered 70 new episodes back in 2018.

With Rick and Morty Season 6 coming to a close soon, there are still 40 episodes that still need to be developed. As the creative team gets closer to fulfilling their current contract, are they thinking about the end? Here’s what Roiland said in a recent interview with Games Radar:

"There’s obviously some kind of narrative threads that you want to push towards some kind of resolution. But I think this show, like a lot of other really awesome animated shows that I love, has the potential to just go and go and go."

Roiland goes on to point out the infinite possibilities of keeping the show going saying:

"There are so many ideas, so many sci-fi stories, and also the multiverse is vast. There are infinite things you could do in it. You also have the high school as a location. There’s a lot of stuff you could do with the show. It’s always been something that we’ve really been super excited about – even in the beginning – with all the different areas we could explore for narrative."

He then went on to comment that the show could go on forever:

“So, I don’t see any sort of big, giant ending. Even if we did, you just have all the other multiverses... You could just pick up with another family with another Rick. It kind of could go on forever, really."

I, personally, don’t want to see Rick and Morty end anytime soon. The series has been so fun to watch over the years and like The Simpsons, it’s something that could just keep going as long as the creators, the network, and the fans want to see it keep going!
