SAVED BY THE BELL and PUNKY BREWSTER Reboots Headed to NBC's Peacock Streaming Service

NCBUniversal has revealed some of their plans for their newly named Peacock streaming service. Those plans include reboots of a couple classic kids series that some of you might be interested in.

Saved By The Bell is set to get rebooted with original cast members that include Elizabeth Berkley, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and Mario Lopez. The other series getting the reboot treatment is Punky Brewster, which will see the return of original star Soleil Moon Frye as a grown-up version of her former character.

These shows are on top of the new reboot of Battlestar Galactica which was also recently announced. That series is coming from Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.

30 Rock writer-producer Tracey Wigfield is executive producing the reboot, and this is the logline that was shared:

“When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state – including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality.”

Of course, Zack Morris is the governor of California!

As for Punky Brewster, “Punky (Frye) is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets a young girl who reminds her a lot of her younger self.” The series is being written and executive produced by Steve and Jim Armogida, and Frye will also serve as executive producer.

What do you think of these shows being rebooted with the original cast members for the new Peacock streaming service?
