THE CONJURING 3 Has a Script and Could Start Shooting in 2019
With The Nun having the biggest opening film in The Conjuring franchise so far, the franchise has no signs of slowing down. We’ve got The Conjuring 3 coming, Annabelle 3 is in development, and then there’s a film being made based on The Crooked Man.
Thanks to Cinema Blend, we have an update on The Conjuring 3 that comes directly from producer Peter Safran. It’s revealed that that the script is being worked on and they are planning to begin production next year in 2019. He also added that they are hoping to release the film in 2020. When asked about the project, Safran said:
“It’s actually coming along great. David Leslie Johnson is working on the screenplay, and I feel pretty confident they will have that one up and running next year.”
David Leslie Johnson is the screenwriter behind the first two Conjuring films which were so freakin’ great! Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like James Wan will return to direct the third film. But, he will be a producer on it.
There are no new details on the plot of the film, but I imagine it will focus on another one of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s cases. It was previously said that the third film would break the pattern of “another supernatural possession in a house with a family in peril,” so that’s a change that’s worth looking forward to. I’m excited to see what story they end up telling!
Are there any other Ed and Lorraine Warren stories that you recall that you’d like to see brought to life in a new Conjuring movie?
