THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE Director Mike Flanagan Developing THE MIDNIGHT CLUB For Netflix
Director Mike Flanagan and the team behind The Haunting of Hill House and the upcoming series The Haunting of Bly Manor, are in the process of developing another project for Netflix. It will be an adaptation of the Christopher Pike novel The Midnight Club.
The book was originally published in 1994. It takes place at Rotterdam Home, “a hospice for terminally ill teenagers. A group of patients begins to gather together at midnight to share scary stories. They eventually make a pact that whichever of them dies first will contact the others from beyond the grave.”
According to the report, the series will also incorporate other Pike works. Pike’s other young adult books include The Thirst and Chain Letter series, as well as the Remember Me and Alosha books. He is also the author of several adult novels, including Sati and The Blind Mirror.
Flanagan, who is creating the series along with Leah Fong, had this to say about the series:
I’m not familiar with The Midnight Club, but it sounds like it’ll make for a great series. Flanagan is a hell of a talented storyteller, so I imagine that he’ll end up delivering a fantastic show that fans of the book and people who are new to the story will enjoy.
Flanagan is also developing a Netflix series titled Midnight Mass, which was forced to suspend production due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It will resume filming once production opens back up.
